Dead battery and jump-start assistance

The online AAPP roadside benefit includes jump-start assistance. If your vehicle will not start, describe the symptoms to dispatch so the provider can assess whether starting assistance or another service is appropriate.

Starting help within the online offer

An eligible jump-start request uses the roadside service process supplied with your enrollment. The offer provides up to three service events per enrollment year for up to four eligible household vehicles. A replacement battery, parts or repairs are separate from the starting assistance described here.

Describe the symptoms, not a guessed diagnosis

Tell the dispatcher whether the engine turns over, you hear clicking, the lights are dim, or warning messages appear. Mention whether the vehicle stopped while driving or failed to start after parking. These details help the provider prepare, but they do not establish a diagnosis.

Identify the vehicle and its location

Share the make, model, year, and whether it is electric, hybrid, or gasoline-powered. Describe the parking space and any height or access restriction. Vehicle designs differ; the provider should follow manufacturer instructions for any starting procedure.

Do not attempt service around smoke, leaking material, visible damage, or other hazardous conditions. Tell dispatch what you see. Call emergency services for an immediate threat.

A jump-start is not a replacement battery

Starting assistance does not automatically include testing, a new battery, parts, installation, or a repair. Confirm the service allowance and any charges first. If the vehicle still cannot run safely, dispatch may need to discuss an eligible tow.

After service, ask a qualified repair provider whether further diagnosis is needed. A successful jump-start does not prove that the underlying problem has been repaired.

Use your program’s service process

Use the contact in your enrollment materials and get authorization when required before arranging an independent service. Keep the service reference and any receipts. General support can help locate your benefit instructions.
